StarCom1
Advance video test to 100mph
A video
demonstration carried out on the ex-USAF (Alconbury)
airfield in Cambridgeshire England.
The
recording was made with a Kenwood mini disk
recorder connected to the passenger headset
connection. This is exactly what a passenger
or a phone caller or another bike using
bike-to-bike two-way radio would hear.
This
demonstrates the StarCom1 Advance mic
sensitivity system reducing the microphone
volume when not talking and instantly
increasing when talking this system reduces
noise but most importantly never misses any
words.

Test Conditions
The tests above were carried out under
the following repeatable conditions:
1) The intercom units were installed and
set-up according to the instruction book
supplied.
3) Testing was carried out on a Triumph
ST Sprint 2005 model.
4) Full face microphones were used in a
HJC helmet.
5)
Riding conditions: Dry road, 16' C,
light wind.
7) The
recording was made with a Kenwood mini
disk recorder connected to the passenger
headset connection.
8)
Every effort was made to ensure the test
was genuine, repeatable and unbiased.
Test Objective
This
test is designed to be both realistic
and very demanding for a bike intercom
system. We opted to use an full face
helmet, on a sports touring bike.
N.B. A bike with a larger fairing
would have better noise performance any
noise heard would occur at a higher
speed.
