The
StarCom1 helmet headsets are designed
and built in the UK to a very high specification,
these are not available from any other source. Each
kits consists of two low profile speakers and an
anti-vibration noise cancelling directional
microphone. |

The
Speakers are designed for easy fitting into a
helmet, they are mounted within a slim line plastic
baffle and then in a comfort fit padded mounting
disks with a Velcro stick pad. The speakers have a
high specification audio response providing both
excellent music quality sound and crystal clear
speech. The microphones are the most important part
of a helmet system, the StarCom1 microphones are
virtually immune to background noise, wind noise and
mechanical vibration. |

The headset connectors
are mini din shrouded plugs and sockets, these
provide a light weight, weather proof connection
with a safety quick release action. The plugs and
sockets have a large easily seen location silver on
black arrow to make connection easy. |

Headset Speakers |

The Speakers used
for all Tecstar headsets are no ordinary
speakers, the speaker itself is special
providing a class leading frequency response,
power output and compact size. This results in a
comfortable fit helmet speaker that provides an
impressive bass response making for excellent
stereo audio quality and clear and natural
speech. The output power allows for loud music
and speech through ear plugs and the helmet
lining.

SH-006 Boom Mic |
The microphone is
critical to the performance of a helmet system, it
must only pick up speech directly in front and close
to it. The potential high levels of background
noise, wind noise and vibration can make speech
impossible if the microphone were to pick up these
noises. The Tecstar microphone has been carefully
designed to be virtually immune to vibration and
virtually deaf to wind and background noises. The
microphone design is common to SH-004, SH-006 and
SH-010 head sets. Even used totally unprotected with
open face helmets and no fairing communication is
perfectly possible at very high speeds. The SH-004
kits has a dome mic which is fix with a velcro disc
into the chin guard of the helmet directly in front
of the mouth. The SH-006 and SH-010 kits have the
mic on a stiff boom allowing the position to be
adjusted again to directly in front of the users
mouth. |

Flip front Helmets
|
 The choice of
headset for a flip front helmet is dependant on
your requirements either SH-004 or SH-006 are
suitable with the following considerations:
Flip Front using
SH-004:
Pros: The microphone
will be positioned precisely when the front is
flipped down, every time. When the flip is
lifted the microphone is also moved away from
your mouth.
Cons: The microphone
cannot be used while the helmet front is lifted.
The microphone wiring needs to be fitted around
the flip hinge.
Flip Front using
SH-006:
Pros: The
microphone can be used while the helmet front is
lifted. Wiring is simple.
Cons: The microphone
boom may be knocked when closing the helmet flip
and may need to be adjusted each time.
Either headset
will perform extremely well with flip helmets,
the choice if mostly of practicality. To date
around 75% of customers have chosen the SH-004,
we offer a free exchange if you encounter
problems fitting or are unhappy with your

Open Face

Designed
to be used with open face helmets, the speakers are
the same as the Full Face set. The boom is a strong
bend and stay construction with a simple mounting, a
flat rubber spade end to the mic which is pushed
behind the helmet lining to provide a simple and
sturdy fit. |

Two levels of wind
protection are provided, the standard foam will
protect the microphone from moderate wind speeds on
un-faired bike while the secondary foam will give
the ultimate protection for completely open face
applications.

Tecstar PlugPhones are designed to combine a
high-quality, acoustically compensated ear speaker
with a generic ear plug for use on motorcycle sound
systems. Two types of ear-tips are included. To
compensate for differences of ear volume,
low-frequency compensation filters have been
designed to provide the optimum bass response. Four
different sizes are supplied and should be selected
empirically on the basis of personal preference.

Designed for training school use, the student
headset is a fast easy fit single speaker
headset. Allowing a student to quickly fit a
radio system for listen only training
applications.
The SH-007 is the
Student Helmet Set for cobra, Icom, Alan radios
etc. while the SH-008 is for Kenwood radios

The crew headset is designed for a variety of uses
including pit lane crews, open top cars, trikes etc.
It is based around a lightweight ear defender
designed for outdoor use, it provides 30dB noise
protection at 1kHz. The
speakers are the same as the Full Face set. The boom
is a strong bend and stay construction. Two levels
of wind protection are provided, the standard foam

noise levels while the secondary foam will give the
